And you think your life is a soap opera?
We were really excited in 2015
to offer our own line of soaps, handmade in northern Minnesota.
In early November, we discovered that our dear friend, Brenna, of Velvet Moose Soap,
has decided that she is off to other endeavors and will
no longer be making our soap.
The good news?
Patty and I are making our own soap,
using some of Brenna's blends and some of our own
new and unique essential oil blends.
AND, the toppings will be largely botanicals that
we grow here in Ely.
Yes, we are extremely excited about this,
and started making soap the 1st of March.
We are having a blast.
Here's the chief, blending the base batch of batter.
Some of the essential oil blends
from last year, such as Patty's Patchouli,
Sweet Earth Koko Butter,
Gracie's Gardener's Scrub, and Almond Oat Bender Bar, will be available.
Our new, super-fatted and luxurious varieties are
Painted Desert, a blend of pinon pine, chipotle caramel, cedarwood, and patchouli.
Strawberry Margarita, a blend of strawberry, lime, aloe, cactus and sea salt.
Lilacs n' Lavender blend with organic lavender buds on top.
London Cuppa, one of our favorites from Velvet Moose,
a blend of black tea and vanilla topped with organic herbal tea.
A Walk in the Woods, our blend of frosty pine, frankincense and myrrh, and balsam.
Flannel Shirt, especially for men, in a blend of
woodsy vanilla, toasted marshmallow, and white tea.
Thai One On, an invigorating combination of lemongrass,
star anise, clementine, and sweet tea, topped with dried orange and lemon peel.
(just for you, Mary Z!!)
Here's the first cut of
Pomelo, an intoxicating blend of grapefruit
and bergamot essential oils, topped with
dried lemon peel.
This is just a teaser - we've made 22 varieties.
We are so excited for you all to see and sniff this soap!
Spring is in the air, and it won't be long now
before the woods will awaken,
the peepers will peep,
and we'll be off and running at Gracie's!
It's only 5 weeks until opening day.....
See you soon!
